Fuego Mesa opens on Race Course Road.
Our story
Two childhood friends.
One very spicy idea.
Fuego Mesa was built by Andre and Gerald, primary-school friends who became family, then business partners.

Two friends / one shared table
Fuego Mesa means fire table. Everything here is built around the table part.
Seats, close together, exactly as intended.
Founders who designed the room themselves.
The beginning
A phone call, and a cuisine already chosen.
Andre and Gerald met in primary school, lost touch, and became relatives years later when Andre married Gerald’s cousin. Andre had spent years behind the wok at a hawker fried Hokkien prawn noodle business; Gerald was juggling university with work as a financial adviser.
Then Andre called with an idea he had been turning over for a while: go into business together. He already knew what he wanted to cook.

Why Mexican
One birthday dinner settled it.
Over a birthday meal at a Mexican restaurant, Andre noticed how little effort the food demanded of anyone: simple, direct, and built for sharing. It pulled the whole table into the same conversation.
Gerald was new to F&B and keen to learn. In July 2025 they took over a unit beneath an HDB block on Race Course Road and turned it into something loud, bright and unmistakably theirs.

The food
Mexico, through a Singapore lens.
Andre developed the menu himself. The beer-battered fish taco is the one everybody orders first, a dory fillet almost the length of a hand, purple cabbage, mango salsa, chipotle mayonnaise. The birria beef tacos arrive with consommé to dip.
Then the menu starts speaking Singaporean.
The tomyum de Fuego quesadilla comes from chef Ratt, who hails from Rayong in Thailand, and the kaya butter wrap is exactly as local as it sounds. Mexican formats, flavours from around here.

The room
They designed every colourful inch of it.
Marigold walls, a red awning, sombrero lampshades, mosaic tiles, a wall of vinyl records and murals that read Mi Casa Es Su Casa. None of it was outsourced. The founders conceived and designed the space themselves.
Fifty seats, tables close together, hip-hop on the speakers. It is not a hushed room, and it was never trying to be.

Fire on the table, in the middle of Farrer Park.
