Two childhood friends. One very spicy idea.

Fuego Mesa means fire table, and the table is the whole point.

Andre and Gerald first met in primary school, then became family years later when Andre married Gerald’s cousin. Andre had spent years behind the wok at a hawker fried Hokkien prawn noodle business; Gerald was juggling university with work as a financial adviser. After a birthday meal at a Mexican restaurant, Andre saw how easily that food pulled everyone around one table, and called Gerald with the idea.

They opened in July 2025 beneath an HDB block on Race Course Road, designing the room themselves: marigold walls, sombrero lampshades, mosaic tiles, murals and a wall of vinyl records. Fifty seats, close together, on purpose.

    Coloured by a mix of blue and purple corn, the wrapper everything else sits in.

  2. 02Purple cabbage

    Shredded raw underneath, for crunch and a clean, sharp edge.

  3. 03Dory fillet

    A fillet nearly the length of a hand, flaky and juicy through the middle.

  4. 04Beer batter

    Fried to a shatteringly crisp shell around the fish.

  5. 05Mango salsa

    The tang that holds the whole taco together.

  6. 06Chipotle mayonnaise

    Smoky, and the last thing to go on before it reaches you.

  • Beer-Battered Fish Taco

    A generous dory fillet in crisp beer batter with purple cabbage, mango salsa and chipotle mayonnaise, in a blue-and-purple corn tortilla.

  • Birria Beef Taco

    Slow-cooked beef short rib and chuck in a tortilla griddled with cheese, with onion salsa and pickled onion. Served with beef consommé for dipping.

Andre keeps developing the menu. Current prices are on the QR code at your table. Scan to order and pay. CDC vouchers accepted. Not halal-certified; confirm allergens with the team.

    The dory fillet goes in whole, and comes out with a shell you can hear.
